static rollover

static rollover
A phenomenon experienced by helicopters when landing on sloping or uneven ground. The helicopter will not roll over as long as the center of gravity is within the skids. However, if it moves out either because of a sharp gradient or a change of weight on board (as in getting in or out of the helicopter on the sloping side), the helicopter is likely to roll over.
In situation A, the center of gravity is inside the track of the skids and the helicopter is safe. B is a marginal situation. In case C, the skids are narrow and the center of gravity is outside the track of the skids resulting in the helicopter rolling over on to one side.
